$200 million in drinking water and sewer infrastructure grants

Fracking waste: Despite the fracking ban, NYers are still at risk

Get the facts on the use of low-volume fracking waste as a de-icer on roads, and the dumping of out-of-state high-volume fracking waste in New York landfills. Staff Attorney Misti Duvall of Riverkeeper’s Watershed Program and Elizabeth Moran of Environmental Advocates of New York discuss how—despite a state ban on fracking—New York permits Pennsylvania to dispose of radioactive fracking waste inside our borders.

NTSB sounds alarm again on oil trains — When will government act?

Even the government acknowledges that our leaders are moving too slowly on this critically important issue. A series of disastrous derailments, oil spills and explosions continue to make the risks compellingly clear.

$200 million in sewer and water infrastructure funding praised
“Local municipalities struggling against the 2 percent tax cap, trying to keep budgets down will be able to get up to $5 million in any given year to foster projects that may have been left languishing because of budgetary pressures...so the need’s enormous and this isn’t a frill. This is pretty foundational.”
Paul Gallay, Riverkeeper President

States fail to properly manage fracking waste, says groundbreaking report
“This report illuminates the dirty secret of oil and gas development—what to do with the enormous amount of waste generated each year. In New York, problems with the improper reuse and disposal of oil and gas waste persist despite the ban on high-volume fracking.”
– Misti Duvall, Riverkeeper Staff Attorney
